About Wholesome Dentistry
Edith Peña, DDS
My name is Dr. Edith Peña, and I graduated from The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, one of the best dental schools in the country, in 2008. Before moving to San Antonio so that I could attend school here, I lived in McAllen, Texas, where I was born.
The picture to the right is of my family. My sweet daughter’s name is Sofia, and my energetic son’s name is Isaac. Once in a while, you may see them at our office when you come visit. After all, we are a family practice. My husband’s name is Joel, and he has worked for more than 18 years at AT&T.
I really enjoy dentistry. I like getting to know our patients, and I like the clinical aspect of it. I also like that it is very versatile. One hour I can be heard singing to an anxious child while I do their fillings, and the next, I can be doing cosmetic work on someone’s front teeth. When I am not in the office, I am usually at home cooking for my family, or at the SA Zoo, or DoSeum with my kids.
I am a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, and IAOMT (International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology). I have extensive training in removing amalgam restorations safely, and I am a certified ozone therapist. In addition, I have an interest in minimally invasive dentistry, so I have trained under experts in this field.
